About David Johnston, The Artist
When I started my business in 1987, I aspired to produce the finest photography I was capable of, without compromise. I never have regretted that decision and neither have my clients. Quality does not go out of style.
My name is David Johnston, and capturing wonderful family memories is what I’ve devoted my life to. I’m a professional family photographer, but more than that, I’m just like you...I’m a family person. I started out by taking photographs of landscapes - just for fun. Then, I started taking photographs of people. My heart was filled with emotion as I captured these priceless memories for families like yours. I knew there was no question that this was what I was meant to do, and what I WANTED to do for the rest of my life.
I discovered that incredible emotion could be conveyed and remembered through fine portraiture. At that moment, my life changed forever. First, your child takes his or her first step. Next, learns to ride a bike. Later, gets a driver’s license...Graduates from high school…Gets married…Starts a family of his or her own. These are precious times, and although things will change, this moment never has to slip from your fingers. What we wouldn’t give to be able to go back in time, and capture our family’s closeness - their strongest moments on film. That’s one of the reasons I became a professional photographer - I want to help other families hold on to their family memories forever, and never regret not having a family portrait done. It should go beyond showing just a view of a face. It should reveal the soul of a person. Anyone with a camera can take a “picture”, but it takes a special degree of sensitivity to create an image that stirs the emotion of the viewer.
This is the goal I have for everyone who lays, sits, crawls, or stands before my camera - to bring out the inner beauty and personality each of us has. It might mean showing the closeness of family, the bonding between mother and child, the innocence of childhood, or the purity of a newborn baby.
The key to the success of your portrait lies in spending time, prior to the photography session, talking about your needs, your desires, your fears, and your objectives. The more prepared you are for your session, the easier it will be for you to be relaxed, look better and receive from us a portrait you will be proud to own or give as a gift.
